What is Poshmark?
Poshmark is an online marketplace where people can buy and sell new, and used clothes, shoes, accessories, and household goods. You can search for things by price, name brands, types of clothing, color, and more. You’ll find all sorts of different designer brands too – from Nike, North Face, Under Amour, Frye, Ariat, Free People to Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chanel.
Poshmark started as a small company focused on selling primarily second-hand women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories. Over the years, it has expanded to allow men’s and children’s items, pet items, beauty products, home goods, and select other items.
Since COVID-19 online shopping has become even more popular over the years. With the growth and expansion of online shopping, there are more options than ever before that benefit both seller and consumer markets. Poshmark is one of them. Established in 2011, Poshmark has grown to over 80 million users as of 2021, making it one of the most popular online marketplaces in the US.
According to Business Insider, Poshmark became a multimillion-dollar retailer, rising up to the ranks of eBay and Etsy at a time when social networking apps were just gaining traction.
In 2019, Poshmark doubled its revenue paid to sellers from $1 billion to $2 billion in one year. It’s grown its boutique market for items sold directly from wholesale to customers. Poshmark now operates in the United States, Canada, Australia, and India.
How Does Poshmark Work?
Poshmark is accessible as a mobile app and online. I like to be able to access both platforms, especially when I am always on the go, the mobile app is very useful and convenient!
First, you will want to download the mobile app on your phone. Then signup by creating a posh mark account. It's super easy! You can directly access your account online with your username and password. This is nice when you are selling and uploading multiple image files to your Poshmark account. I find this can be a little more time efficient and makes it easier to be able to copy and paste descriptions and upload images from one platform to another if you are also listing on multiple marketplaces.
After creating your account then you can start listing your items to sell. Try to take good-quality photos of your listings. Poshmark offers photo editing tools and filters as well to edit the photos of the items you're listing. If your item is brand new, never worn, or used - you can also upload and use exact product images found online. Even if your item is brand new, never worn, or used I would still recommend taking and uploading photos you've personally taken of the items you're listing. This gives the shopper validation that the items you're listing are genuine and shows the true quality of the items you're listing to sell. You can add up to 16 photos of your items and 1 video.
Next, you will fill out the listing details of the item. Be sure to include a description of what you are selling, a title, category (for example: shoes, skirts, dresses, etc.), the quantity, size, brand, color, new with tags (optional), style tags (optional), availability, and price.
While it is free to list an item, once that item has sold, Poshmark will take a fee of 20% of the item that sold.

Shipping Made Easy on Poshmark
1. Buyers pay a flat rate for shipping (currently $7.67). Sellers have the option to offer discounted shipping rates or free shipping.
2. Poshmark sends you a shipping label via email
3. You print out the label and slap it on the package
Poshmark makes the shipping process easy and convenient for both the seller and the buyer. Poshmark ships via USPS Priority Mail which has an average shipping time of 2-3 business days. Faster shipping = happy customers.
How Listing Offers Work
In addition, buyers can make offers on your listing — these offers can either be accepted, countered, or denied. Sellers are notified of offers in the "News" tab at the bottom of the screen. Once an item has sold, meaning a user has agreed to pay for your item at its listing price, you will get a notification to pack up your item for shipping. Poshmark will email you a prepaid shipping label. Once the item has been shipped and received by the buyer then the money you earned from the item will be deposited into your preferred payment method.
Buyers have three days to notify Poshmark if they want a refund. Don't stress tho, returns aren’t allowed unless the item is a fake/counterfeit or if it arrives “Not As Described” (for example: if a flaw present that the seller did not disclose or the item is a different size than what was listed). Therefore buyers can’t request a return simply because they “didn’t like it” or it “doesn’t fit” them. Poshmark has made its return policies fair to both the seller and buyer within certain circumstances.
How to Share Your Listings to Increase Sales
Poshmark incorporates in-app sharing features as well as outside-app sharing features in order to gain more visibility and reach for your listings. The in-app sharing features are easy to navigate and use. To share some or all of your listings with your followers directly on Poshmark simply navigate to your closet. Look for the toolbar icon on the right-hand side of the page, and click on the icon. A drop-down box will appear and you will want to click on Share to Followers.
After clicking on Share to Followers a new page will come up (see image below). Here you have the option to select all listings or you can custom-select certain listings that you want to share with your followers.
Another Poshmark sharing option is to share your listings across certain social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Tumblr directly from your listing, or copy the link of your listing to share on your Instagram or TikTok profile. Poshmark also gives you the option to share your listings via email and or copy the link of your listing to send out any way you choose. Ps. You can even text the link to anyone of your friends or group of friends.

Posh Parties are virtual shopping events hosted in real-time where Poshmark members meet up on Poshmark to shop, share, and sell clothing, beauty products, home goods, and more.
When do Posh Parties happen?
Posh Parties happen 4 times a day and each Party has a different theme.
9 AM PT – BRAND PARTIES: Feature some of the community’s favorite brands like Louis Vuitton, Patagonia, Lululemon Athleta, North Face, Nike, Levi’s, CHANEL, and more!
12 PM PT – CATEGORY PARTIES: Showcase specific product categories like “Best in Bags,” “Best in Jeans,” and “Best in Home.”
4 PM PT – DEPARTMENT PARTIES: Highlight some of the different departments such as Men, Kids, Plus Size, and Home.
7 PM PT – STYLE PARTIES: These Parties focus on styles, seasons, and trends, such as “Athleisure Cool,” “Fashion Favorites,” and “Canadian Fall Staples.”

How Do I Share Listings to a Posh Party?
After a Party begins, head over to your Poshmark closet and follow these steps:
Select a listing that matches the Party theme
Tap Share
Tap Share next to the name of the Party
All Done! As long as your listing matches the Party theme, it will be shared with the Party.
My Poshmark Likes
Another one of my favorite features on Poshmark is "My Likes". I love being able to navigate to this page which contains all of the items I have "liked" or "saved". Here I can go back and revisit items I have placed in this collection at any point in time. Any items that have been sold in "My Likes" will be marked as SOLD, basically meaning these items are no longer available to purchase.
Buying on Poshmark
Buying clothing and accessories on Poshmark is an easy and safe process. Poshmark has many categories and sections to browse through, as well as a search function if you know you want a specific item. The main feed on the app also shows various Posh Parties happening, as well as new listings and listings catered to your search history. You can also "like" an item you're interested in to refer back to it at another point.
You can filter your search results to show your desired size, brand, category type, condition, price, and color. Poshmark also has a "My Size" feature where you can pre-set all your size requirements, ranging from sweaters to shoes.
Once you find an item you'd like to purchase, you can either extend an offer or buy it. If you want to make an offer, select Offer. Next, type in your offer amount. All offers are bids, which expire within 24 hours. If a seller accepts your bid, the amount you offered will be charged to your payment method. A seller can also respond with a counteroffer.
However, if you'd like to buy an item there and then, the payment will be deducted. Sellers are encouraged to pack and ship their sold items within 72 hours. You should get notifications of an order confirmation, shipping confirmation, and tracking number within the app, or go to your account (the tab with your username at the bottom) and select My Purchases.
When you receive the item in the mail, make sure to go into the app and mark it as such. You will then have three days after delivery to make a claim to Poshmark for a refund or return if the item you received did not match its listing description. If Poshmark approves your claim, you will be emailed a shipping label and issued a refund.
